Client Moffat Manufacturing

Completed June 2014

Location Christchurch

Scope & Scale

A significant development on 28,500m2 greenfield site to house new 12,000m2 manufacturing facilities and 1,500m2 offices for kitchen appliance manufacturers Moffat.

The project incorporated large components of structural steel, precast, post-tension floor, and PIR panel for façade and roofing (24mtr lengths). The manufacturing floor is made up of assembly, fabrication, storage, enamelling, R&D, spares, spray paint booth, press shop areas and supported by extensive yard and container loading docks. The high-quality office area accommodates general management, marketing, showroom, demonstration kitchen, and large 24-hour self-catering cafeteria for 180+ staff.

Performance

HRS has a long history with Moffat being their preferred builder partner on their earthquake damaged Philipstown site. Even before picking up a hammer HRS spent 18 months working closely with Moffat testing the “cost zone” on this project by investigating material selections, methodologies and design details.

HRS achieved significant savings on site excavation through careful monitoring and optimising re-use of material to reduce in-fill costs.

Services trades (which included CNG, LPG and Weld Gas) required significant co-ordination, careful consideration of distribution and supply routes, and effective management to ensure quality installation, testing and commission.
