Completed January 2019

Location Christchurch

Scope & Scale

External and internal earthquake remediation and structural strengthening programme for small retail/office block at 166 Moorhouse Avenue, Christchurch. Work also extended to include some fitouts (in response to earthquake damage or new tenancy requirements).

The scope involved three 2-storey buildings housing retailers Noel Lemming, Lighting Direct and offices for; SBL Law, Corcoran French Lawyers, Abacus Institute of Studies and YHA.

Internal works included structural steel replacement, shotcrete, epoxy repairs and the external façade received epoxy repairs and repainting.

Performance

HRS were awarded work on a negotiated open book tender arrangement, (agreed rates and measure and value), and staged work from April 2016 through to January 2019 to suit availability of an empty block and/or office as tenants moved out. Noel Lemming closed its store while remediation works were undertaken. The small office precinct and Lighting Direct remained operational over the whole period so consideration was given to work being carried out in some instances at night.

All earthquake remediation and structural strengthening was carried out by HRS trade resource.

HRS engaged suspended ceiling, wall partitioning, electrical, plumbing, and flooring subcontractors to complete fitout works.

Health & Safety: Nil major incidents, serious harm, or lost days

Budget: Agreed rates achieved, measure and value agreed.
