Outpatient Clinic

Date of Completion May 2012  | Duration 5 months | Contract Value $6.3 million

“The Hagley Outpatients has been completed in 141 days which is testament to the ‘can do’ attitude of CDHB staff and our contractors.  While this has been built as a temporary solution, the patient environment is very professional, and is a credit to everyone involved.”Mr David Meates, CDHB

Scope and Scale

The construction of the Hagley Outpatient clinic marked a significant step in restoring Christchurch Hospital’s capacity.  Designed as a temporary solution to help relieve the physical constraints facing the CDHB system following the earthquakes, the building includes almost 2300m2 (over two floors) of highly serviced consulting rooms, procedure rooms, waiting areas and offices.

Built in modules the buildings can be picked up and relocated to another site to suit the CDHB’s future requirements.

Performance

HRS secured the project on a P&G Margin - open book contract.  The urgency of CDHB’s needs resulted in the works progressing on a fast track basis with simultaneous design and build. Work proceeded in order to achieve a non-negotiable completion date to allow the start of other CDHB projects, and decanting of staff.

The clinic was officially opened by Associate Minister of Health, Hon. Jo Goodhew.

Programme: Achieved fast track 141 day programme of works.
Health & Safety: Nil significant Incidents
Budget:  Final project cost within client’s expectations
